Darkseid is a name synonymous with all thing ‘villainous’ in the DC universe. A character that requires no introduction, this ‘big bad’ is a threat to all who oppose him. Teasing us for months, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment’s Injustice 2 have ensured that Darkseid’s reveal trailer is brutal and unapologetic.
A powerhouse brawler, Darkseid will be a “power” controlled fighter, opting more for brute force attacks that deal in heavy damage. Don’t let his size and speed fool you however; Darkseid will also be able to land attacks from a distance with optic blasts that home in his target, or teleport behind you to crush your defences. He does all this while barely breaking a sweat, preferring to keep his hands behind his back in a composed stance, a testament to just how powerful he truly is.
For those who are a little green to Darkseid’s villainous history, he regularly plays the role of super-villain to Superman predominantly, but is also an enemy to the entire Justice League and has, on more than one occasion, been a thorn in their side. Tyrannical ruler of the planet Apokolips, his true goal is to rule the universe and eliminate all free will, destroying all those who would defy him.
Darkseid’s role in the Injustice 2 story is unknown at this current point, and based on the means in which he is obtained through pre-order, it may be that he plays no role at all, unless in some form of DLC story content later on in the future. Injustice 2 is set for release for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on the 17th of May 2017 in Australia and is already available for pre-order, with bonus content available
