Things aren’t looking good for a 2017 release date for both Kingdom Hearts III or the Final Fantasy VII Remake.
Square Enix’s recent investors document (courtesy of Neogaf) outlines clearly the titles scheduled to be released within this year and the years to come.
Unfortunately Kingdom Hearts III and the Final Fantasy VII Remake along with the recently announced Marvel/Square Enix team up project fall into the category of “2018 and beyond”, it’s the word beyond that would definitely have Kingdom Hearts fans on edge.
It’s been known for Square Enix to keep pushing the release date of the long awaited Kingdom Hearts instalments to a ridiculous period of time, causing fans to become restless and unimpressed. Being a Kingdom Hearts fan this is worrying because we could either see it next year or we could be potentially waiting 2 years or more.
To add more salt to the wound, Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy VII Remake director Tetsuya Nomura stated earlier this year in an interview with Famitsu that both projects were still far from being completed.
“While I can’t make a sweeping statement because the development process is different from what we’ve done so far, there are still worlds untouched. Production is progressing on unannounced worlds, in a state that we cannot show them off. In terms of the state of development, there is still some way to go.” – [source]
So if you haven’t already now would be a good time to grab those tissues.
