E3 2017: Samus returns to her past with Metroid: Samus Returns

Posted on June 15, 2017

While the internet seemed to loose its collective mind over the reveal of the words “Metroid Prime 4”, a long awaited remake of Metroid II: The Return of Samus was revealed with a weirdly small amount of fanfare. The remake for Nintendo 3DS is going by the titleĀ Metroid: Samus Returns. The original was a pivotal point in the Metroid narrative that lead into Super Metroid, and fans have been demanding a remake of the game for years.

Originally on the GameBoy Advanced, the remake stays with its handheld roots and will be launching on the 3DS exclusively, taking Samus back to her side-scrolling history but bringing the depth of 3D that the 3DS offers. The game looks slick, fast and full of action, which is exactly the kind of gameplay that the long absent heroine totally deserves.

Luckily after 7 years without Nintendo’s number one badass leading lady, we won’t have to wait to much longer. Metroid: Samus Retuns will be coming to your 3DS on September 15th. Check out the reveal trailer below to bathe in the Samus glory.
