Gamers and streamers over at Twitch are at it again, raising money for a good cause.
Guardian Con is an annual week long charity stream and 2 day convention dedicated to the St Jude Children’s Research Hospital. This is the third year Guardian Con is running with this year’s target set at 1 million US dollars. This is just under double what they raised last year.
The convention runs from June 30th to July 1st in Tampa, Florida where attendees can expect to see artists, discussion panels, vendors, live music, gaming stations, PvP tournaments and more – with tickets available for purchase here.
The streaming portion of Guardian Con is predominately organised by the Destiny Community, with well known players and streamers taking turns in hosting a 4 hour block of streams as viewers donate to the cause.
KingGothalion, a popular Destiny streamer and organiser of the event, raised $78,000 alone during his 4 hour block. The stream will be running until the end of the week (June 30th) and it is already well on its way to achieving the goal. The charity that they’re raising money for is St Jude which is a research centre for kids who suffer from various types of cancer. St Jude helps the children get treatment and an education without their families having to pay for their medical bills.
