It’s every hero for themselves in Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite

Posted on July 23, 2017

A new gameplay trailer has been released for the upcoming fighting game Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite, and the battle roster has just gotten an impressive boost! Blazing into the fray is Marvel’s web-slinging superhero Spider-Man, as well as three new Capcom familiars: Frank West, (Dead Rising), Mike Haggar (Final Fight), and Nemesis (Resident Evil). Also gracing the screen are Thanos and Gamora, who were announced earlier in the year. The trailer is fast-paced and action-packed, and gloriously shows off each character’s signature moves.

All battles take place in a new stage setting, which would appear to be M.O.D.O.K.’s lair, as the super-intelligent spectator watches the warriors face off. First off we see Nemesis and Haggar team up to take on their opponents, both are fighters with wide sweeping attacks and devastating hyper combos. Despite their apparent close quarter combat styles, their speed is also rather something to behold, so don’t count on their size being a hindrance.

Our friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man, and zombie slaying Frank West are up next to bat, and they mean business. Spidey starts off with his signature close and mid-range attacks, easily closing the gap between his opponents before performing some of his signature hyper combos. Frank West swaps in and begins hacking and slashing with his over the top weapons, which are normally designed to eviscerate the undead, not the living. We also get to see a new hyper combo of Spider-Man’s that appears to pay homage to the original Spider-Man movie – I was left squealing like the fanboy I am!

Finally, the intergalactic duo of Thanos and Gamora take centre stage and duke it out, showing us why they’re two foes you should fight against with caution. Gamora unleashes a flurry of attacks, using both guns and blades, ensuring her opponent have no time to counter. Also within Gamora’s amour resides the Mind Stone, which can be utilized to grab a hold of enemies and also perform an exceptionally powerful hyper combo.

Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite Gamora Utilises the Mind Stone

Due for release on September 9th 2017, the game will be playable on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. There’s no doubt that Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite will be a must play fighting game for any Marvel or Capcom fan; being both I simply can’t wait to get my hands on this epic, two-universe mash-up.
