A new trailer has been released by NIS America, for its upcoming JRPG – Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana. The trailer focuses on the game’s story with gorgeous anime styled cut scenes, while also showcasing a brief preview of the games battle system.
After an eight year gap in Ys’ storyline, players are once again able to take control of the game’s main protagonist, Adol, who explores a new world after finding himself marooned on a mysterious island. Having been shipwrecked, alongside a number of other survivors, players are tasked with finding other survivors, creating a habitable living environment, hunting dangerous creatures and exploring their new-found terrain.
During their adventures Adol begins to dream of a mysterious blue-haired maiden, who lives in an unknown world. It is clear she is the centre of some nefarious plot, which demands her life be offered up as a sacrifice to the “Tree of Great Beginnings”. It’s up to Adol and his friends to save her, all while solving the mystery of the ‘cursed’ isle they reside upon.
Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana will be available on the 15th of September. The game will be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and PC as both a physical and digital release.
