The Initiate has been revealed byDeceptive Games Ltd. with a lot of information for us greedy horror fans. A puzzler game with horror elements, The Initiate follows the story of Nathan Rockford. Set in Oregon, Astoria, your mission is to escape the house you’ve woken up in. Sounds simple, right?
The only trouble is, you don’t have any memories, and the house is rife with traps and puzzles. An unseen voice will talk you through your mission in the house, but your personal mission will be to find out why you’re here.
It’s looking to be super gorgeous, and if you know anything about me, it’s that I love my indie horror. The Steam page mentions that it’s using Physical Based Shaders (PBS), and the lighting effects already look wonderful.
There is a demo available now as well, which you can grab here if you’re interested. Gavin Powell game creator and director for Deceptive Games says “We hope this demo will highlight the key aspects of the game mechanics, and will give everyone an understanding of how the story will progress of this mystery puzzle adventure, without giving away too much of the main game.”
Well, I know what I’m doing for the rest of the weekend! The Initiate will release on the 1st of August this year, for PC and Mac, on Steam. Watch the trailer below.
