Crystal Dynamics are notable for being the first developer to hop aboard the 3DO train(wreck) in the early 90’s, with Gex as their mascot.  Shifting their focus to the first PlayStation, they produced the Pandemonium series and ended up being purchased by Eidos Interactive in 1998. They are mainly known for their work on the Legacy of Kain series and for taking over the Tomb Raider franchise from Eidos Interactive starting with Tomb Raider Legends, including acclaimed 2013 reboot Tomb Raider (included in the package) and its sequel.

As for what is next for Crystal Dynamics in January parent company Square Enix announced a partnership with Marvel Entertainment to create games based on its properties. As part of that, Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal have started work on a game based on the Avengers.
