I’ve been geeking out all day after hearing about the line-up of DLC fighters for Injustice 2’s battle roster.
First off we get a new DC super villain Black Manta, Aquaman’s archenemy and an all-around evil dude. Next comes the God of Lightning and Mortal Kombat alumni, Raiden, make sure you’ve your rubber gloves on when battling him. Lastly, in a most surprising I didn’t see coming, The Right Hand of Doom appears – Hellboy; talk about a ‘Dark Horse’ character reveal! Watch as all three characters get their moment in the spotlight in this new trailer.
The trailer starts with a shot of Red Hood on the ground apparently unconscious and unresponsive, with no hint of how it happened. Suddenly Sub-Zero flies across the screen and smashes into a pillar, seemingly defeated, covered in electricity. Out of the shadows comes Raiden, looking like a boss and ready to take on his next opponent. Seemingly out of waterfall from nowhere appears Black Manta, Raiden then adopts an attack stance, ready to take on his newest challenger.
Black Manta fires off two small rockets at Raiden, who simply teleports out of harm’s way at the last moment. As one of the rockets explodes, the other goes flying off and is caught with relative ease by Hellboy. Nonplussed at the explosive in his hand, he uses the rocket’s flame to light his cigarette, something I can totally see him doing, before letting it go on its way. Taking a puff of his cig, he then goes on to say “this just got a whole lot more interesting” – honestly I concur!
It’s as if Injustice 2 can do no wrong with the choices of characters they’re releasing as downloadable content, already announcing Starfire, Subzero and Red Hood. I just want to get my hands on all three new fighters now, particularly Hellboy, whose graphic novels I’ve always enjoyed reading. No set date has been announced for their release but players interested in seeing how Black Manta will fight can get a preview this August 27th on NetherRealm’s Twitch channel.
Injustice 2 is available for play right now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Why not check out our review?
