Get your balls and berries ready and prepare your teams as Mewtwo hits the streets in Pokémon GO! To those unfamiliar to Pokémon lore, Mewtwo is one of the most powerful Pokémon available in the game, but its history is full of pain and suffering. Cloned from the legendary Pokémon Mew, this super powered Psychic entity searches for the true meaning of life and the purpose of its existence.

Pokémon Go - Maewtwo Strikes Back

Following a recent Pokémon GO stadium event held in Yokohama, Japan where the legendary Psychic Pokémon was obtainable, it has been announced he will be coming to the rest of the world.

Pokémon Go - It's time to battle!

Mewtwo will be a Pokémon GO Raid exclusive battle boss, but there will be a few prerequisites to battle him. Participants wishing to catch the legendary Pokémon must first successfully complete a Raid Battle at the gym where Mewtwo will be appearing. For those who aren’t close by to the chosen gym, there will be notifications prior to the event allowing players time to plan a raid on the chosen Gym before Mewtwo arrives.

In addition to the Mewtwo exclusive Raid Battle, Niantic issued an update regarding the four legendary bird Pokémon currently available in Pokémon GO. Lugia, Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres will again be appearing as standard Raid Battles as bosses. This will happen between August 14-31, 2017.
