The latest trailer for Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom has been released in anticipation for Gamescom 2017, and I couldn’t be more excited. The trailer teases us with more story content and focuses it attention on one of King Evan’s companions – Roland.
It starts off mysteriously enough with an incapacitated Roland who disappears right before our eyes, enveloped in a blinding white light. Moments later reappearing in an unknown room still covered in the dazzling light. We then cut to gameplay footage of Roland battling a number of different enemies using a cutlass-like sword and using creatures known as Higgledies to cast spells with, giving us another look at the combat system.
Stepping back from gameplay for a moment, we get to see more of Ni No Kuni 2’s storyline unfold with video of monsters attacking, giant weaponry firing, and mages casting spells upon Evan and his comrades. We also get to see more of Roland, and it would seem he possesses a more serious nature than that of young Evan. He even speaks to a unknown person stating “It’s nothing personal. You were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.”. Who is this person that Roland is talking to and does this foreshadow a darker event within the game?
Anything that is influenced this much by the animation from Studio Ghibli always gets me excited. Despite the added wait time of Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom’s release, I cannot wait to get my hands on it!
Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom is coming to PS4 and PC on January 19, 2018. For those looking for a little extra swag, there will also be 2 different special edition releases, including a Prince Edition and King Edition – so make sure to get in early so you don’t miss out!
