In an ongoing trend of what seems to be releasing awesomely structured indie games comes the latest offering, Pet The Pup At The Party from designer Will Herring. It’s a game we can all basically relate to in some way, you’re at a party with a bunch of people and boom your social anxiety hits you right in the face.
Well Pet The Pup At The Party is all about alleviating social anxiety by allowing you to ignore the people to instead search for very good boyes to pet. *sings merrily* “We’re going on a doggo hunt, a doggo hunt, a doggo hunt! We’re going on a doggo hunt and it’s gonna be grrrrreat!”
The game is made from a first person perspective and has you roaming around the party with a 2 minute time limit in search of adorable doggo’s to pet, however its not as easy as it sounds. You’ll need to search every room of the house, high and low to find your party pooches, this means you’ll have to get a little pushy, nudging past party goers to get to certain places and fair warning they are almost always annoyed and looking right at you.
But all these feeling of unease are worth it as you follow the arf! to you dogo at the end of the rainbow, of course there’s always the option to talk to the party goers and ease some of that tension but why would you even consider that when an adorable poochie pal is on the line?
Pet The Pup At The Party is out now on itch.io for both Mac and Windows PC and is a fun and surprisingly interesting game based on social anxiety and being the best dog gone pup-petter you can be! I simply can’t get enough of this one and we here at Checkpoint think you’ll love it too.
