Orwell, the narrative driven PC title that put you in the place of Big Brother, is back! Developer, Osmotic Studios, and indie label, Surprise Attack Games, have announced that they are returning with a second season to the of the award-winning surveillance thriller titled Orwell: Ignorance is Strength, coming soon for PC, Mac and Linux.
This second season is taking its inspiration right from today’s abundance of fake news and alternative facts. The first teaser trailer for Orwell: Ignorance is Strength, includes snippets of real world news clips from people like Barack Obama and Donald Trump as well as numerous others in the political and media industries.
Inspired by the rise of fake news, the social media echo chamber and the death of “truth” Orwell: Ignorance is Strength places the player in the shoes of a government official in a top-secret department of the Orwell program.
A political crisis has arisen across borders, threatening to plunge The Nation and Parges into violent civil unrest. Given the power to both uncover and fabricate “the truth”, the player must decide for themselves how far they will go in the service of their country and choose whether the truth is sacred or ignorance is strength.
Orwell: Ignorance is Strength takes place in parallel to the events of the first season, but this time the player takes on the role of an insider with access to additional features of the Orwell program. According to Osmotic, Ignorance is Strength has a much darker tone than Season 1 and in terms of gameplay features, players will have much more control over the investigation, able to influence public opinion directly.
Ignorance is Strength is scheduled to release shortly as a weekly episodic series so for those interested you can keep up to date by visiting their website here or as always check back in with us here at Checkpoint.
