Australia’s first eSports bar, GGEZ, opens in Melbourne in just one week

Posted on September 1, 2017

Australia is getting its first ever dedicated eSports bar. You know, it’s like a sports bar, but instead of men running around in tight shorts it will be a bunch of professional gamers battling it out!

The bar is called GGEZ and it’s located in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD on Queen St. The venue will be available for all your eSporting needs, from the biggest of events to some more niche games as well. With a license available to practically all hours of the night, the bar will be able to stay open to the early stretches of the morning for those big eSports events that may not run at times that are particularly friendly to Australian fans.

We have been excited for the opening of GGEZ for a while now, even interviewing one of the guys behind the project on air. But with an official opening date we now have more to get excited about. The bar will be open 5pm on Thursday the 7th of September. The news comes via press release where it was also revealed that “the first people through the door will receive 1 of 300 limited edition GG EZ pins, as well as complimentary samples of GG EZ’s alcoholic bubble teas and a range of snacks from the Californian/Korean fusion menu.”

Will you be checking out Australia’s first dedicated eSports bar? I know I will.

The venue is located at 93-95 Queen Street. It’s strictly 18 and over and will run Wednesday through Monday, 5pm to late.
