Who will continue your legacy in the new roguelite Survived By

Posted on September 1, 2017

Roguelites have been a massive hit lately, it’s a hit and miss genre but if you get it right you can find yourself a pretty loyal fan base. Trying their hat and the genre is a joint venture by two veteran independent developers, Human Head Studios [Rune and Prey] and Digital Extremes [Warframe]. With two names like that behind it you’d be forgiven for expecting big things from Survived By.

But a roguelite needs something to set itself apart, and Survived By has decided that why have one when you could have many. First it’s got a great top down pixel art style that works really well with it’s bullet-hell game play. What’s really exciting is that this will be an MMO with up to 100 players in a instance at once.

Survived By

The game is set in a world where survivors have been pushed to the brink of extinction by a “corruption” that is taking over the lands within the World Tree.  Players will take up arms as one of several classes including Alchemist, Harbinger, Infiltrator, Sentinel, Geomancer, and a Druid — but these are just to begin with. Like other roguelites your death will be permadeath for your character but they will be survived by a new descendant who carries a small part of their legacy with them. Legacies will provide the new character with plenty of buffs and stat boosts as we travel down the family line.

Most excitedly the game will be Free to Play in the same vein as Warframe, with time everything will be achievable but you will be able to achieve things faster for a price. Warframe has been shown to be profitable in this model with plenty to keep the fan base coming back for more and just like Warframe Survived By promises regular content updates.

Survived By is due to premiere at PAX West today and you’ll be able to apply to join the Closed Alpha on their official website ahead of it’s commencement this year. Be sure to check out the announcement trailer for Survived By below for the first look at all the mayhem it has to offer.
