Blizzard releases World of Warcraft pet to support disaster relief

Posted on September 14, 2017

This beautiful little World of Warcraft pet fox  is here to help out with hurricane and other disaster relief. I mean, not literally, but all proceeds from the sale of this little guy will go to charity.

The aptly named ‘Shadow’ is a fox who shifts its fur colours. Golden fur for the  ‘light’ and purple fur for the ‘shadow’. Shadow can be used for pet battles and is applied to all characters on your Warcraft account.

Long time WoW players may know that Blizzard does a charity pet every year for various charities. With recent hurricanes and fires in the US,  flooding in South Asia, and countless other natural disasters worldwide, they decided to speed up this year’s release. Shadow was meant to be announced later this year at Blizzcon 2017, but with everything happening currently in the world, it’s already been made available to buy.

From Blizzards offical website on Shadow:
“Due to recent natural disasters around the world—and the great needs of those affected—we’ve decided not to wait for BlizzCon 2017 to release this year’s new charity pet. The immediacy of the events, including Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, flooding in South Asia, and countless other crises, have shown we need to act now.”
