One of the most rage-inducing games ever to be released is returning with the announcement of Spelunky 2.
For those who haven’t had the pleasure, Spelunky was a crazy difficult rogue-like where you delved deep into cave systems and tried to survive the procedurally generated world around you. The game pretty much kicked off the resurgence of the rogue-like genre with the game initially launching in 2008, long before games like The Binding of Isaac came along. I never got a chance to play the original Spelunky but I did play the hell out of its remake when that arrived in 2013. The game is a classic, fantastically designed and oh so challenging.

Announced at Sony’s Paris Games Week and followed up by the above Tweet. We don’t have a release date yet, but the developer has since clarified that the game will arrive first onto the PC and PS4. No other details are known but it’s a fairly safe bet that the game will eventually make its way onto the Xbox One and probably the Switch too.
A teaser trailer was also released which can be viewed below. I can’t wait to get my spelunk on once again!
