It’s about time we got some more villain appreciation in Final Fantasy’s arcade edition of Dissidia, which is currently only featured in Japan. The announcement that Cloud of Darkness is arriving has me reveling, as I loved playing her in the Dissidia games and it most likely means she (or it) will be a featured in Dissidia Final Fantasy NT. Set for release early next year I am so ready to dole out some punishment as both heroes and villains in this battle royal rumble.
A sheer force of darkness, it employs an array of long and mid range attacks to damage their opponent and keep them at arms bay. She uses techniques that are mostly straight on and have little variance, so when battling against her it can be a bit easy enough to counter if you know when her attacks are coming. The Cloud of Darkness’s mobility seems to also have been lessened somewhat to off set the fact that she is predominantly a long range attacker, this will benefit speedy attackers, including one hero that also comes from the Final Fantasy III realm – The Onion Knight.
Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is due for an early year release in 2018 on the 30th of January and is exclusively playable on the PS4. It’s only a few months away now but I can’t help but imagine which other villains Square Enix will announce and subsequently release onto the game. Honestly I’m hoping for a new fighter like Gilgamesh to take the stage, but it’s really anyone’s guess who’ll be announced next; there just so many memorable characters to choose from.
