The Pokémon Company has been quite tight-lipped about their upcoming releases, Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, which are due for release in just over a month. So I’m always pleased when we get a new trailer to revel in. This time we are treated to more information surrounding Necrozma, who’ll be a main focus point of the Ultra storyline, and additional information on the player companion Rotom Dex and its new features.
Similar to Kyurem, who was able to fuse with Zekrom and Reshiram, Necrozma will be able to cloak himself around either Solgaleo or Lunala. This provides him with a stat boost, an additional type, and an exclusive attack called Photon Geyser. On top of this both forms of Necrozma will be granted a unique Z-Move to unleash upon foes, depending on which form the Pokémon takes, Dusk Mane or Dawn Wings. If Solgaleo and Necrozma combine their Z-Move the result will be Searing Sunraze Smash, and if Necrozma chooses Lunala its Z-Move will be Menacing Moonraze Maelstrom. Whichever form players choose you can be assured it’ll be a powerful contender to do battle with.
On top of this interesting (and somewhat complex) revelation comes news that Rotom Dex is also receiving a few upgrades of his own. Once players have achieved a sufficient level of friendship with the mischievous Ghost Pokémon he’ll be able to access new features using the Roto Loto. Features such as faster egg hatching buffs and improved high level Pokémon encounter rates. This is similar to the buffs found in X and Y where players were able to tweak the circumstances of their game using O-Powers. Additionally, Rotom will also be able to utilise its own special Z-Power to grant players an additional Z-Move in battle.
While it’s exciting to see all the new information coming out in anticipation for Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, I’m still waiting on new information surrounding additional Pokémon forms, since I honestly felt as though they didn’t utilise the Alolan forms as much as they could have. That being said I still can’t wait to get my hands on this latest Pokémon release, which arrives on the Nintendo 3DS this November 17. Which version are you planning on picking up and what has you most excited for this sequel?
