Pokémon GO’s photo competition is pretty much just for fun

Pokémon GO have launched a photo competition with pretty much the most underwhelming prizes possible – but don’t let that stop you!

When you first played Pokémon GO part of the fun was using the augmented reality feature to take funny photos of the Pokémon you encounter.  Although I am sure most people have turned off this feature once the novelty factor wore off and to conserve battery life while playing this power-hungry game.

Niantic have launched an AR photo competition on Instagram to breathe new life into this now neglected feature with an amazing list of prizes on offer – or maybe not.

Until October 25th you can upload photos on Instagram using the hashtag #PokemonGOcontest.  The top ten submissions will win a prize pack consisting of Pokémon GO Plus, a poster autographed by the Pokémon GO team, and wireless Bluetooth earbuds.

It is important to note that this is an international event, so while there may be little chance to win that coveted signed poster, it may be worth following the comp for a laugh as people are getting creative with their entries.
