Join Luffy & crew with 2 new games in 2018 – One Piece: World Seeker and Grand Cruise

Posted on December 20, 2017

Anothter year and another Jump Festa in Japan has come and gone; and what a year it was for anime and gaming. Announcements left right and centre, but by the far the most exciting (for myself anyway) was the announcement of not one, but two new upcoming One Piece games; One Piece: World Seeker, and One Piece: Grand Cruise VR. Both have trailers showcasing game footage and tease the viewers with some amazing sights, particularly Grand Cruise’s VR trailer, since you really feel like you’ve stepped into the anime!

One Piece: World Seeker:

Now while there isn’t a whole lot of information surrounding One Piece: World Seeker, it has been noted as an original work of Eiichiro Oda, creator of the popular Shonen Jump manga series. In the trailer we see Luffy exploring the vast open world and getting up to all kinds of mischief, as only Luffy can. Unlike past games sporting the One Piece brand, World Seeker seems to look much more like an action-adventure game, a departure from the regular musou hack’n’slash games we’ve often seen.

Aptly named, One Piece: World Seeker encourages players to explore their surroundings, stealthily sneak past enemies and use your Gum-Gum powers to traverse a lot of ground in a short amount of time. It’s not clear if Luffy will be the only playable character in World Seeker but hopefully we’ll get to see more of the Straw Hat crew as more information is released.

One Piece: Grand Cruise VR:

If you ever dreamt of becoming one of Luffy’s comrades, sailing aboard the Thousand Sunny ship, then it looks like you’ll soon get your wish with the PlayStation VR exclusive game One Piece: Grand Cruise. Players will be able to explore the ship’s layout, talk to all the crew members, battle strong foes, stave off attacking navy ships, and even battle the Kraken! It’s a game I certainly may consider getting the PlayStation VR for, since I’ve been holding off getting it for a while, due to the fact few games on the VR have taken my fancy. However if this is the path VR is taking, exploring anime worlds, then I’m all in!

Both One Piece: World Seeker and One Piece: Grand Cruise will be PlayStation exclusives, and while no official release date has been announced for either game as of yet, they’re both slated for a 2018 release. So are you as excited for both these games as I am? Sound off down below what you’d like to see in the upcoming One Piece games!
