In one of the more surprising announcements from the Nintendo Direct mini this morning, Dark Souls: Remastered was revealed to be coming to the Nintendo Switch.
According to the press release, “hidden in the world of are nine online covenants to uncover that will motivate your online interactions. Collaboration or confrontation, support or betrayal – which allegiance will you choose? Up to six players can join together online to help, or hurt, each other throughout their quest.”
Dark Souls is known for being notoriously difficult, with the franchise spawning many sequels and other developers attempting to replicate the formula. There’s no question it has created a sub-genre of its own since it originally came out in 2011.
More importantly, this again shows the willingness of Nintendo to work with more mature content for their brand, and indicates a solid relationship with another large third party publisher in Bandai Namco Entertainment. This can only mean good things for the consoles future and for us gamers.
While it was revealed as part of the Nintendo Direct mini, Dark Souls: Remastered will be coming to Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PS4 and PC when it launches on May 25th 2018. Check out the trailer below!
