Super Mario Odyssey has been a hit since its launch late last year and now in the games first piece of DLC fans will see the addition of a new multiplayer mode with Luigi’s Balloon World.
Hot off the press for the Nintendo Direct mini 1.11.2018 are a bunch of great game announcements, chief among them is an update to everyone’s favourite plumber. Nintendo announced that a free update will be arriving in February for Super Mario Odyssey and will add an online game mode called Luigi’s Balloon World which will be available to players once they have completed the main story mode.
This is a smart move as it’s also when a bulk of the game really opens up to you and you get to experience the true freedom on offer in Super Mario Odyssey. To take advantage of this new DLC when it becomes available all you’ll have to do is look for Luigi floating around any of the numerous kingdoms to activate Luigi’s Balloon World.
Basically, in a nutshell, it’s a hide-and-seek mode. You’ll have 30 odd seconds to hide a balloon somewhere on one of the many Odyssey maps, then other players will have to find them in the same time frame. With the scale of some of the maps I can only assume this is going to be a lot of fun and frustration, particularly as it will showcase who has learnt the maps the best.
Also featured in the Luigi’s Balloon World update was a few new outfits for Mario (shown again below) as well as some nifty new snapshot features for you to enjoy in Snapshot Mode.
All in all it looks like we really can’t get enough of this game and with the addition of Luigi’s Balloon World we can now share the fun we’ve all been having with our friends too. Don’t forget to check out our review of Super Mario Odyssey here.
