Some new announcements have come out of the Nintendo Direct mini that occurred earlier this morning, including one that I’m incredibly keen for: Mario Tennis Aces hitting the Nintendo Switch.
Mario Tennis is one of the most loved Mario sport spin-off franchises since its inception on the Nintendo 64 back in 2000, although the latest iteration in Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash on Wii U certainly didn’t hit an ace with critics or fans. Still, a new version that fixes previous issues and also works well as a portable tennis title? Sign me up!
Mario Tennis Aces looks to bring the colourful and creative action to this generation, along with new wrinkles to the gameplay that will challenge you to read your opponents position and stroke to give you an advantage. There’s also a story mode for the first time since the Gameboy Advance version of the title in 2005.
While we don’t have much more information yet, it certainly looks like the game could be another successful title in the growing library of the Nintendo Switch.
Mario Tennis Aces will be launching in Spring 2018 – which, for us Aussies, is somewhere in the region of April/May/June 2018. Check out the reveal trailer below!
