Following the recent trend of Wii U re-releases, Rising Star Games have announced that Hello Kitty Kruisers is the latest to make the leap from previous generation to current. Hello Kitty Kruisers is a kart racing game that ended up becoming a rare find for the Wii U. Move on over Mario Kart, there is a new (ish) racer in town.
Originally an iOS game that made the jump to the Wii U a few years ago. The reviews at the time were average to say the least. That said though, from the trailer there is a distinct Diddy Kong Racing flavour to proceedings which just cannot be a bad thing. The game features 10 playable characters, 12 tracks and a range of vehicles to drive. There is four player split screen racing of course and a single player adventure mode if you can’t find anyone to play with you.
The original game became somewhat of a rarity and a collectors item pushing the price north of USD $80 on the internet. The original was not received well unfortunately. Hopefully the developers have decided to improve the game for this re-release. That said though, the popularity of Hello Kitty and the larger install base of the Switch might help this version along.
Hello Kitty of course has a huge following and this cute Kitty is globally recognised. Inspiring happiness, sharing and friendship across the world. So it’s fairly likely we can count violence out of this one. In fact, even the items in the game are cute fluffy pink cupcakes. Nintendo of late appeared to be dipping their toes into more mature gaming, maybe these developers missed the memo.
Nevertheless, one of the many things Super Mario unleashed on the world is character themed Kart racing and the world is a better place because of it. With no new Mario Kart on the horizon and no Sega & Sonic All-Stars racing in the near future either. Unless a Pokemon Kart Racing game magically appears, Hello Kitty Kruisers could be just the thing to get your Kart Racing fix in 2018.
Check out the trailer below, it just might be your cup of tea. Hello Kitty Kruisers is due out Spring 2018.
