After spending 3 years on Steam’s Early Access, Subnautica is finally about to get its full release. Developed by Unknown Worlds, a development team known for creating Natural Selection 1 & 2, Subnautica is looking to bring a survival experience to the depths of the ocean.

The announcement of the game’s full release comes from an update to the Unknown Worlds website which now features a countdown until the game’s launch. A launch arriving on January 23, 2018.

The full release of Subnautica has been a long time coming with the game spending 3 years in Early Access. Throughout that time-span the game has certainly gathered some popularity among gamers who praise the game’s magnificent world, exploration and survival elements.

Unknown Worlds are also launching this game with a bang. When the countdown on the game’s website reaches 0 (in 2 weeks from time of writing) a stream will go live that will feature the “premiere of the Subnautica cinematic trailer”, “live pushing of the Big Red Launch button”, “interviews with developers” and “real life sea-creatures”.

I’m certainly in it for the sea creatures.
