After raising a colossal $450,000 USD on Indiegogo and then disappearing off everyone’s radar for a while, Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn comes at us with an announcement trailer and a release window. And there isn’t long to wait as it’s just a few short months away.
It was a very surprising announcement back in 2014 that one of the most universally maligned fighting games was making a comeback. There was a bit of shock going around, and then it fell out of the public eye for a while. Fortunately for all those Indiegogo backers, Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn looks to be heading into our hands soon. Saber Interactive CEO Matt Karch had the following to say about its imminent release:
“We know diehard fans have been waiting eagerly to experience the hard-hitting action of this new take on Shaq Fu, and we’re excited to team up with Wired Productions to get the game physically into the hands of players this spring” (which is Autumn for those of us in the Southern Hemisphere).
Unlike the 1v1 fighting game formula of the original, Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn will be a more traditional brawler which sees players take control of the unstoppable Shaquille O’Neal against hordes of monsters while using various weapons and a devastating combo system. The trailer is right below for your viewing pleasure.
I personally am looking forward to this one, but then again, I quite like the original. Shaq Fu :A Legend Reborn will burst onto Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC in Autumn this year.
