Gaming’s trend of re-releasing nostalgic games and consoles is still going strong, and it’s no wonder given just how much demand is out there each time their pre-sales sell like hot-cakes. This time around Sega has announced it will be releasing the Sega Genesis Classics Collection for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It’ll be including more than 50 playable games from the iconic 16-bit gaming console “Genesis” (or Mega Drive if you lived outside of the States). For a more in-depth look at what will be on offer in the release, watch the trailer to see if your cherished game made the cut.
Of course it wouldn’t be a collection without the inclusion of such games like Sonic the Hedgehog, Virtua Fighter 2, Golden Axe, and Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle. On top of this, the collection will also support enhanced features like game rewind, applicable visual filters (for appearance authenticity), and a trophy/achievement list for those gamers who want to clock all games perfectly. There will also be a special ‘Mirror Mode’ that allows players to play their favourite games with a horizontally flipped screen, just in case you think the game is getting a little too easy.
Sadly, there has been no news on whether or not the Nintendo Switch will be getting the same treatment. Considering Sega’s most iconic mascot, Sonic, has previously made his way over to Nintendo platforms, this seems like a slightly disappointing choice.
