Over a thousand keyblade wielders recently congregated to attend the Dandelion Meeting for Square Enix’s popular mobile game, Kingdom Hearts Union χ[Cross]. This was the first official North American community gathering for the game, and was in part a celebration of the game’s two year anniversary. Attendees got to enjoy the event with various activities including new playable content for the game, as well as panel discussions with the series’ development team.
During this discussion, Series Director Tetsuya Nomura, and Kingdom Hearts Union χ[Cross] Producer Hironori Okayama, offered their insights into the inner-workings of the popular series. On top of this, in a special video message, Co-Directior of Kingdom Hearts III, Tai Yasue, revealed that the new mini-games seen in the latest Kingdom Hearts III trailer would be playable in Union χ[Cross] as well as Kingdom Hearts III. These mini-games were inspired by classic Disney cartoons and the retro 1980’s LCD handheld games.
Super-fans of Kingdom Hearts will also be excited to learn of an opportunity to make history in Kingdom Hearts III. Up to 300 selected players from Union χ[Cross] will have their user names appear in a secret location within Kingdom Hearts III, through the means of an in-game high score challenge found on Union χ[Cross] .
On top of this already exciting news, more announcements for the mobile game include:
- New Player vs. Player (PvP) Mode – During the Dandelion Meeting event, players were treated to a special preview of the new asynchronous PvP mode which will launch later this year. The new PvP mode will be the first time players can battle against one another in Union χ[Cross], and will require players to strategically use their best medals in turn-based combat to be victorious. The player who wins the most turns will win the battle, and be entered into a monthly PvP Leaderboard for the chance to accumulate rewards and recognition.
- 2-year Anniversary Celebration Gifts – To commemorate the game’s second anniversary, 3,000 jewels were gifted to all players on April 7, 2018. Players were also gifted two Fantasia Mickey B medals today, which can be claimed any time within the next month.
For those who consider themselves fans of the series, it’s worth noting that Union χ[Cross] possesses a fair bit of lore and connection to the upcoming Kingdom Hearts III release, so if you’ve not already played the game, there’s certainly no better time to try it out. Kingdom Hearts Union χ[Cross] is available for download and play on both Android and iOS for free, with additional in-game purchases.
