Konami has announced the latest installment in the Castlevania series, Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls, for iOS. The game will feature popular characters from previous games in the franchise, and be focused around cooperative and competitive multiplayer.
Players will control a government agent called Genya Arikado and an anti-Dracula researched named Lucy. In addition, classic characters such as Simon Belmont, Alucard and Shanoa, among others, will be playable. Grimoire of Souls will feature real time cooperative action gameplay, as well as 4v4 competitive play and a four player boss rush mode.
The Castlevania series has traditionally been a series of single player exploration action games about fighting Dracula and his minions, making this new promise of a multiplayer game for iOS something of a departure from classic games from the franchise. It is unknown what the game’s pricing model will be, or when it will be released; however, a closed beta test for Japanese players will be available in coming months.
It’s certainly not the first big ticket video game franchise to make its way to mobile. For more information on Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls, head to the official website.
