Owlcat Games, the developers of Pathfinder: Kingmaker, are keeping us up-to-date on their progress with the latest gameplay trailer for their upcoming isometric adventure title.
If you haven’t heard of it before, Pathfinder: Kingmaker is the first video game to be set within the world of the Pathfinder Roleplaying game: a tabletop RPG that has seen much popularity since its release in 2009. Kingmaker is being made in partnership with Pathfinder developers Paizo, ensuring that the game will come as close as possible to the real deal. The above video is just one of the many trailers and development logs that are available to watch on their official YouTube channel, containing juicy gameplay details.
Kingmaker will include everything you’ve come to expect from a tabletop RPG – you’ll be able to customise your character and play style with 14 distinct classes with 3 archetypes to each one. You can form your party from a huge cast of companions, and shape the surrounding world with your choices. The game world promises to be a large one with many detailed areas to explore, with a seasonal and day/night cycle.
Tabletop RPGs are a heck of a lot of fun, but it requires that you and several friends keep enough of a schedule that you can meet semi-regularly for many hours. Free time? Friends? Who has those nowadays? Far better to stay indoors and experience the best of what Pathfinder has to offer right on your PC. At least, that’s what us RPG fans hope – we’ll have to check back with Kingmaker later to see if it stacks up.
Although the Kickstarter campaign is over, you can still preorder the game by visiting their website. Though no exact release date was given, the trailer teases that it will be available later this year.
