After it was revealed last month that we would be receiving the next addition to Lara Croft’s adventures later this year, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, a full trailer has been revealed giving us more insight into the dark, gritty story we can expect this time around.
In the trailer, we see Lara much more violent and focused than in the previous games, as she races to save the world from a Maya apocalypse. We’ve been building more and more to her getting more comfortable as the Tomb Raider, and here we can see her getting pushed to her limits. Check it out.
“This is Lara’s defining moment, the moment when she becomes the Tomb Raider,” says Jason Dozois, narrative director. “It’s the culmination of her journey over the series, and shows how the events of the past adventures have affected her.”
Along with the trailer, information about the games special editions has also been revealed, with several versions available on all platforms.
- Standard Edition, including additional skills booster pack
- Digital Deluxe Edition, providing 48 hour early access to the game, the original game soundtrack and additional weapon/outfit
- Croft Edition, with everything above plus more additional weapons/outfits and the season pass.
Then there’s this bad-boy, which is sure to satiate the most hardcore Tomb Raider fans out there.
- Ultimate Edition, including everything above, plus a (brilliant) statue, a bottle opener modeled after Lara’s now iconic climbing axe and an actual Tomb Raider flashlight. What more could you ask for?
Shadow of the Tomb Raider is set for release on September 14th on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Honestly, it can’t come soon enough.
