The top-down shooter I Hate Running Backwards will launch on PC, Xbox One and PS4 on 22 May, with the Switch release slated for later this year.
The love child of Binx Interactive, Croteam Incubator and Devolver Digital, I Hate Running Backwards is a very chaotic looking never-ending roguelite shooter. In it, players will blast through wave after wave of monsters as they time travel through procedurally generated worlds with an array of over-the-top weapons including rocket launchers, lasers and something called the Shrapnel Umbrella (!). Based on the release trailer, one of the big drawing cards of the game is the fully destructible environments, ensuring that maximum carnage will occur on screen.
Players will get to use characters from some of the developers’ cult-classic games – Serious Sam from the Serious Sam franchise, Richard from Hotline Miami, Lo Wang from the Shadow Warrior series, and The Bullet from Enter the Gungeon, to name a few. The game will also feature a local co-op mode for those who would prefer to destroy all the things with a friend by their side.
I Hate Running Backwards will be available from 22 May on Steam and the respective PlayStation and Xbox stores for $17.50. Check out the release trailer to get a better idea of the game’s very charming-looking mayhem.
