Highly anticipated zombie action adventure and PS4 exclusive Days Gone has finally been given a release date of February 22nd 2019, beating other reveals to the punch just days before E3 kicks off.
After standing out in a big way in its initial gameplay reveal at E3 2016, no release date during the additional footage shown at E3 2017 had many wondering whether or not the Bend Studio developed title would make it into this year. It turns out we’ll have to wait just a little bit longer, but a firm release date is still nice, even if it’s a further away than expected. Check out the release date trailer below, which shows some juicy new footage.
Along with the date, the trailer also shows quite literally how “this world comes for you”, with the large swarms of zombies, dangerous humans, animals and even crows all look to be a threat. Up until now, the enemy focus has been on the liquid-like waves of the undead chasing after our hero and being used as deadly distractions for some human foes, so it’s interesting to see that there will be a variety of dangers to face.
It’s possible that Sony jumped the gun on this announcement as they know full well that fans at the conference would have been hoping for Days Gone to drop in October or November. Now that they’ve ripped the band-aid off, they can let other anticipated titles and surprise announcements take the spotlight.
