The Forgotten City announced as a stand-alone game for PC!

Posted on June 14, 2018

Skyrim fans should be getting real excited over this piece of gaming news. One of its most popular mods, The Forgotten City, is being released as its own game, simply calling it The Forgotten City.  The story tells the tale of an ancient Roman city, filled with statue like corpses, the reason for this being because someone broke a mysterious law. The player will explore this city of ghosts and attempt to rewrite history and save those who died in the past or suffer the same fate and witness their deaths over and over again, in an infinite time loop.

Amassing over 1.6 million downloads, The Forgotten City mod was certainly one of the more popular additions to Skyrim, so it makes perfect sense to create a stand-alone game for players (even I’m intrigued by this game and I’ve never payed the Skyrim series). According to the developers at Modern Storyteller, The Forgotten City will “retain all the elements which made the original beloved”. However this does not mean it’ll remain purely the same, the game is being built in the Unreal Engine with “redesigned characters and dialogue, fresh twists, lore and endings, added combat and wall-climbing mechanics, an all-new orchestral score, professional voice acting, and motion capture animations.”

The Forgotten City is set to release in 2019 for the PC with no concrete date as of yet. With the fate of so many hanging in the balance, it’ll be an impressive feat to save everyone, but I love a good challenge so I may have to get this game when it arrives next year.
