Justin Roiland, creator of Rick and Morty and development studio Squanch Games, has revealed their newest adventure Trover Saves the Universe. The first full-length sci-fi action comedy adventure from the studio comes to PS4 and PSVR in the near future.
The game revolves around your dogs. They have been “dognapped by a beaked lunatic who stuffed them into his eye holes and is using their life essence to destroy the universe.” If that intrigues or confuses, well you’re not alone. As with all of Roiland’s work, the title looks to be hilariously silly, existentially bleak, and incredibly dark and dry in humour.
“You’ve partnered with Trover, a little purple eye hole monster… Find power babies and plug them into his eye holes so that he can absorb their power, track down Glorkon, and save your dogs (and the Universe).”
The most interesting element is the game features two characters that a single player controls. It’s a self-described “crazy mix of first and third-person action” which aims to be as complex as you imagine.
Visit vivid alien environments, save the ‘power babies’, upgrade your characters, and meet out-of-this-world NPCs along this undoubtedly fun journey. Think of it like playing the longest episode of Rick and Morty, ever. You can expect this game to be as entertaining as their last effort, with Rick and Morty VR remaining the most comedic VR game to date.
If that all appears delightful to you, find out more at the Trover Saves the Universe website and Facebook.
