Nintendo sure seems fond of promoting The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in their other games. After letting the Dragonborn cosplay as Link in the Switch port of Skyrim, and featuring BOTW Link as a guest driver in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate is the latest game to get the Breath of the Wild treatment.
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, coming this August to the Nintendo Switch, will feature armour and weapons resembling Link’s outfit from Breath of the Wild. This equipment includes the Champion’s Tunic, as well as a Korok costume for your character’s Felyne.
Nintendo has been fond of cross-promoting their other titles in their games, even in quite subtle ways. These have included recent things like costumes resembling Princess Peach, Link and Samus in Bayonetta 2. However, even some of their older titles have included Nintendo references, such as the Happy Mask Salesman’s Mario mask in Majora’s Mask, and the Sword ability giving Kirby Link’s traditional cap and Master Sword in the Kirby series.
Monster Hunter Generations on the 3DS has even previously included DLC allowing your Felyne to dress as Toon Link from The Wind Waker and Amaratsu from Okami. Monster Hunter 4 on the 3DS also included Zelda-themed DLC, allowing the player to dress up in Link’s classic green outfit.
We don’t yet know what the Champion’s Tunic’s stats are or how to acquire it in Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate. However, this is a pretty neat reference nonetheless. Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, and the Breath of the Wild gear, will be available for the Nintendo Switch on August 28.
