Si, Senior! Canadian independent DrinkBox Studios finally unveils the mask of Guacamelee! 2, set for a 21 August release on PlayStation 4 and Steam. The Metroidvania action-platformer will set you back a mere $19.99  USD / €19.99.

Brawler and protagonist Juan Aguacate returns from luxurious yet uneventful retirement for a remarkable new adventure. The very fabric of the Mexiverse is in danger and Juan must overcome his toughest opponent yet and save the universe.

Set within the creative Luchador world full of trials, title matches, and zero fake wrestling, Guacamelee! 2 refines the original game by adding new levels, rivals, tag teams, and signature moves. The huge world inspired by Mexican culture and folklore is abundant with wacky weirdos and old amigos from Aguacate’s adventures. A refreshing range of bone-crunching wrestling moves is at his fingertips to fight skeletal hordes and overcome complex platforming.

Augusto Quijana, Concept Lead at DrinkBox Studios, discusses the developer’s difficulties in fitting in new content, “we couldn’t decide whether to add Better Moves, More Interesting Platforming, Timeline Travel, Chicken Powers, or New Puns, so we added it all!

The vibrant sequel features ‘drop-in, drop-out‘ four-player local co-op play through the entire story, a signature soundtrack with fresh music from Peter Chapman and Rom Di Prisco, a redefined upgrade system that involves training like the ‘Italian Stallion’ himself, a unique set of Super Chicken abilities, and of course vivid and incredibly designed levels.

The original Guacamelee! is easily one of the better platforming games of the last generation and there’s no doubt the sequel will deliver. It’s joining a whole range of fantastic titles with potential releasing next month, but it will definitely stand out as a champion among the crowd.

Guacamelee! 2 is available for pre-order on the PlayStation Store, and Steam now. Be ready to jump back into the ring 21 August 2018.
