Scarlet Moon Records, a recording company known for their work rerecording gaming soundtracks into lullaby’s, has recently announced a planned series of Final Fantasy albums.
All of these albums will feature live classical guitar performances by William Carlos Reyes, and will focus on a single roman numeral release, starting with Final Fantasy IV’s release in July.
In celebration with Final Fantasy IV’s 27th anniversary, Scarlet Moon has decided to make the first album IV’s debut. Scarlet Moon Records producer Jayson Napolitano sates “I’ve always enjoyed Square Enix’s Piano Collections Final Fantasy series, but I have a personal preference for the sound of the guitar“.
“I wanted to produce a series of guitar albums starting with Final Fantasy IV, just as the Piano Collections series did. I also knew based on William Carlos Reyes’s past arrangements that he’d be perfect for this project with his ability to layer his performances in a very natural and pleasing way, and I couldn’t be happier with the result. I want Guitar Collections : Final Fantasy to become a series, so we hope everyone’s as eager as we are to hear more!” For those who are fans of IV, and are familiar with Nobuo Uematsu’s compositional works, they’ll be pleased to hear arrangements such as “Theme of Love” and “Golbeza Clad in Dark” played in the album. On top of 11 original tracks, Guitar Collections will feature an original track inspired by IV titled “The Crystals”. The full track listing is as follows:
- Main Theme of FINAL FANTASY IV
- Theme of Love
- Welcome to Our Town!
- Fight 2
- Rydia
- Melody of Lute
- Golbeza Clad in the Dark
- Troian Beauty
