Brace yourselves, for you are about to experience one terrifying virtual reality game. Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice VR Edition has just been revealed, and is completely free for those who already own Hellblade on Steam. This VR edition packs a hefty system requirement, and as such is only available on the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift VR systems. This does mean, however, that there won’t be a PSVR edition. Below is the annoucement video, where Ninja Theory goes in-depth about the process of VR-ifying Hellblade, and the challenges in bringing the game to Rift and Vive.
As mentioned in the video, there is a fairly high barrier of entry for Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice VR Edition. The developers recommend at least an Nvidia GTX 1080 or AMD Radeon RX 580 GPU to run the game at its intended 90 frames-per-second frame rate, which is just about as state-of-the-art as home PC setups can get. It is fascinating to hear the developers talk about the process of turning the 3rd person action game into a VR title, and I hope to see many more developers do the same in the future.
Remember the 360° trailer that Ninja Theory launched in 2016? Turns out that was the team gauging how effective the game would be in VR! Truly impressive stuff.

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice VR Edition launches for FREE on Steam, for the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift, on July 31st, 2018.
