Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last week then it’s likely you’ve already seen the fifteen-minute long Uncharted fan film, which is currently taking the internet by storm. Although not official, you would certainly not know this when taking in the films cinematic opening scenes and big budget style production. Since the Uncharted games first debut in 2007 there has been no shortage of fans wanting an Uncharted movie and equally no shortage of opinions on who should play the charismatic Nathan Drake.
For the most part Uncharted’s extremely large fan base all agree that there’s truly only one man fitting to play the role of Nathan Drake, and that is none other than actor Nathan Fillion. So it seemed like complete and utter kismet when Nathan Fillion and Canadian director Allan Ungar (Gridlocked) teamed up to create an Uncharted fan film. The film which released July 16th has since gone completely viral and exploded on the internet. Even receiving praise from former Naughty Dog employee Amy Hennig who said in a Tweet…
You guys did a fantastic job, Allan! Warms these old cockles to see our baby brought to life like this. Never could’ve imagined it, when we set off on this journey 13+ years ago. Thank you! ❤️

The Uncharted fan film also stars some other famous faces other than that of Nathan Fillion. Accompanying Nathan on a quest to find the lost treasure of the Flor de la Mar are Avatar’s Stephen Lang who plays Victor “Sully” Sullivan, Geno Segers from Banshee who plays Diego and Mircea Monroe from Episodes stars as Elena Fisher. To prepare for his role as Nathan Drake, Fillion underwent an extensive training routine and partook in many of his own stunts for the short fan film. Giving fans an experience they would enjoy seemed to be paramount here and is something that truly shines through to the very game realistic combat.
Whilst it’s sad there is only fifteen minutes to enjoy of this Unofficial Uncharted fan film, there is an official Uncharted film currently in the pipeline with Sony Pictures. The film will star everyone’s friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man Tom Holland who is cast to play a young Nathan Drake. However I think we can all agree for now which Uncharted film we’d rather be watching.
