Prepare yourself to embark on a holy quest as Diablo 3 has been prematurely announced after an eagle eyed Reddit user Riomegon spotted the announcement on the Forbes website. The news was meant to be announced tomorrow and the article has obviously since been deleted.
We had actually assumed that Diablo 3 was on it’s way back in March after a tweet from Blizzard began the conspiracy theories. At the time an insider from Eurogamer did confirm it was on the horizon but Blizzard remained tight lipped and no further details came to the surface until now.
Diablo 3 Eternal Collection for the Switch will come packaged with the original game, the Reaper of Souls expansion, the Rise of the Necromancer DLC and any other updates the game has received. As has become fairly standard with large third party ports to Switch, Nintendo have included their own little surprise. In game you’ll be able to unlock a set of armour that will turn your character into one of Nintendo’s very own big bads, Ganondorf from the Legend of Zelda series.
Thankfully the Switch version of Diablo 3 takes advantage of the unique system and will allow for multiplayer in a bunch of different ways. After the proven success on other consoles you’ll be able to use the standard local couch co-op on one machine and online co-op, but even better you’ll also be able to catch up in person with your own Switches and take down the lords of hell on your seperate Switch without needing an internet connection. The game will also accomodate for combination of the different variations.
The game hasn’t been given an exact release date, simply that it will release before the end of 2018. Diablo 3 certainly has turned itself around, after a lacklustre launch in 2012 the team worked hard to turn it around and foster an extremely active and passionate player base 6 years later. Even more exciting is that this is in fact the first Blizzard title on a Nintendo platform in 15 years, so hopefully it speaks of a reawakened friendship between two of the biggest names in modern gaming.
