Upcoming open world explorer One Piece: World Seeker has released its latest trailer at the Tokyo Game Show, focusing this time on the introduction of two new characters. The trailer introduces Jeanne and Isaac, two original characters created by One Piece creator and artist Eiichiro Oda, specifically for World Seeker. The trailer seen below also does a great job at providing more details surrounding the story.
The trailer begins with a bit of backstory detailing the New World island Luffy and the Straw Hat crew visit, Jewel Island. Once a land popular for its abundance of natural riches is now almost destroyed thanks to the devastation of war. The island was ‘saved’ thanks to the assistance of the Navy, who after the war ended used its vast resources to rebuild the island. However their presence on the island was not welcomed by all; with some of the island’s natives taking up arms against the organisation.
Additionally we learn that Jewel Island also plays host to a new Navy stronghold known as Prison Island, which is governed by Isaac, its warden. His design is a rather flamboyant one, with multi-coloured hair and a sparkling silver accent along the right side of his face. The leader who stands against Isaac and the Navy is Jeanne, a spirited young woman who fights for her homeland and the traditions it once had. Familiar faces from the One Piece series, including Cipher Pol-0 member Rob Lucci and Admiral Akainu, also appear in the short, which can’t mean anything good for the Straw Hat crew, who’ve experienced first hand their power and cruelty.
From what has been shown so far we can expect a decent storyline to come from One Piece: World Seeker, as its author Oda-san is quite adept at creating epic overreaching story arcs. Slated for release in 2019, onto PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam, World Seeker is shaping up to be another must have game for fans of the series.
