You gotta love Tokyo Game Show when they drop all these amazing trailers and announcements of the anime games love so much. This time around fans of the older Shonen Jump comics are in for a treat with the announcement of several new characters to Jump Force over the past week. From Hunter x Hunter we have Killua Zoldyck the playful boy assassin, Kurapika the last surviving member of the Kurta Clan, as well as Yami Yugi the King of Games and duel monster master. Of course what’s most exciting is the recent announcement of Yu Yu Hakusho characters Yusuke Urameshi the Underworld Detective, and Toguro leader of the Apparition Gang and series antagonist in the Dark Tournament Saga.
An exciting new trailer accompanied the announcement of these two legendary shonen fighters, and it’s clear to see why both are getting a chance to shine in the upcoming Jump Force game. We get to watch as Yusuke lays down the gauntlet and employ a number of his signature attacks including the Spirit Gun and Spirit Gun Mega. Toguro is just as much of a sight to behold, unleashing a barrage of attacks on Yusuke in return, including his Finger Flip Bullet attack.
While the trailer focuses predominantly on the two Yu Yu Hakusho characters, viewers are also treated to brief glimpses at both Killua and Kurapika. Honestly, I’m really excited to play with Killua, as he is by far one of the coolest characters from the Hunter x Hunter series and has no qualms with going down the darker path to achieve his ends. Kurapika will be an interesting character to play with considering he battles using a whip-chain, so it’s very likely he’ll be more of mid-range technical fighter.
On top of this already star studded trailer, a number of original characters have been revealed for Jump Force. Penned by Dragon Quest and Dragon Ball writer and artist Akira Toriyama, four new characters have debuted in their own trailer. While very little is known about any of them, we can confirm that both Galena and Kane are confirmed villains. As to what role their villainy will play in the game, we’re still not sure.
Slated for release in 2019 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, Jump Force is starting to gather an impressive roster of fighters onto the game. As to who will be the next fighter announced, I’m really rooting for the inclusion of characters from either My Hero Academia, or Rurouni Kenshin. For now, however, it’s anyone’s guess as to who’ll be next.
