It’s time to welcome the newest addition to the Jump Force fighting roster, Yami Yugi, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the addition. While his announcement certainly is no surprise, considering Yugi images have been floating all over the net, a gameplay trailer officially cements the King of Game’s entry. While the gameplay trailer is rather short, it does a great job building hype, for one of Shonen Jumps most ambitious fighting games ever.
The Jump Force trailer starts off with the panning shot of the Golden Gate Bridge standing alongside the shinobi statues of Madara Uchiha, and Hashirama Senju, which right then and there blew my fan-boy mind. Using his signature duel monsters Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl, Yami battles against his opponents with some really flashy mid-range attacks. His play style appears to that similar of a summoner, preferably fighting with his creatures instead of himself. Not content with just showing us his mages, Yami finally summons Slifer the Sky Dragon, cutting away just before the final attack.
Of course, seeing as how Yu-Gi-Oh has now been granted a place in the battle roster does this mean that players will see either Seto Kaiba or Marik Ishtar, two of Yugi’s greatest rivals, also join the ranks. Jump Force is shaping up to be the must have game of 2019 for all anime fans, and with an anticipated release date of February for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, it won’t be long before we get to see the Shonen fighter we’ve always wanted.
