You can now vote for the inaugural Australian Games Awards (or AGAs), celebrating achievements in gaming, both local and international.
Hosted by Stephanie Bendixsen (of Good Game and ScreenPlay fame), the AGAs will present 30 awards covering various aspects of the community. The event will be held at The Big Top in Sydney’s Luna Park at 7pm, December 19.
You can vote for the AGAs on their website.

While many of the award categories involve big-budget AAA titles, such as Shooter of the Year and RPG of the Year, there is an Australian Developed Game of the Year category, as well as others for mobile, indie, and tabletop games.
There is also a refreshing amount of categories being awarded to real-life people in the community, such as cosplayers, journalists, Twitch and YouTube creators, and social media personalities. The world of eSports will also be awarded for the best personalities, players, and teams.
While there have been other award shows recognising specific facets of the Australian gaming community, such as the Australian Game Developer Awards, the Women in Games Awards, and the MCV Pacific Awards (which were also hosted by Bendixsen this year), the Australian Games Awards seems like an attempt to cover the industry from multiple angles at once. With Nintendo, PlayStation, and Bethesda among their sponsors, this could be the first of a big annual event.
Voting closes December 7. Feel free to sound off in the comments below about who your top picks for winners are.
