Last week, BioWare chief Casey Hudsun teased some exciting news for fans hoping for Dragon Age 4 in a post on the BioWare blog:
“If you’ve been following these blogs, or myself and Mark Darrah on Twitter, you know we’re also working on some secret Dragon Age stuff. Dragon Age is an incredibly important franchise in our studio, and we’re excited to continue its legacy. Look for more on this in the coming month.”
It’s been speculated that this is in reference to the Game Awards, which is taking place on Dec 7 at the Microsoft Theatre. The Game Awards are well known for hosting not only the Game of the Year winners but also many announcements and trailers for games to come in the future. This secret Dragon Age news will very likely be revealed at the coming Games Awards .
Whether or not this secret news is the reveal of the newest Dragon Age (whatever BioWare decides to call it) or something else related to the series is yet to be confirmed. If it is a sequel announcement, it will be strangely early, as sources close to the studio predicts that Dragon Age 4 will likely not be released for several years yet, according to a report by Venturebeat.
It’s been known for quite some time that BioWare has put Dragon Age and Mass Effect on the backburner while they develop their new title Anthem. Is BioWare just trying to reassure us that they haven’t forgotten about Dragon Age entirely, or will we be presented with something tangible to look forward to? We’ll find out at the Game Awards.
