Our spritely purple dragon friend Spyro has been incredibly popular recently. In fact, he’s coming to Australia, New Zealand, and Canada on mobile with Skylanders: Ring of Heroes, available to download on iOS and Android right now.
The all-new mobile RPG is developed by Com2uS in collaboration with Activision. Diving into the world as Portal Masters, the acting guardians of Skylands, players fly out on a journey to defeat the dastardly Kaos and retrieve the sacred Book of Dark Magic.
Involving the familiar RPG mechanics, Skylanders: Ring of Heroes shakes it up with real-time mana gauges and intense turn-based battles. It brings strategic elements to the series for the first time.
The game revolves around a ten-part story, delving into challenging dungeons, and global player vs player features. Launching in Australia and New Zealand, Skylanders™ Ring of Heroes will be hosting a variety of events for the newcomers from down under.
Don’t fret if you’re not from the elite three who are receiving the game first. A representative from Com2uS has expressed, “starting with the releases in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, we’ll do our best to bring the Skylanders Ring of Heroes experience to the rest of the world.” Keep an eye out for the full global release in the coming months.
Spyro is the new face of remasters with the recent remastering of the original trilogy of games for PlayStation 4, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. Receiving generally positive reviews, the title and other PlayStation classic reworks, are driving the trend in a great direction for nostalgia-hunters.
Skylanders has always been the alternative for Spyro fans up until this point. Now introducing fresh mechanics to the series, as well as accessibility on mobile platforms, it’s more than a chance than ever to give it a shot.
