It’s been a while since A Plague Tale: Innocence first scurried onto the scene back in 2017. The game is still terrifying (see Luke’s first impressions), however a lot more depth has been unveiled pre launch on May 14th.
The web-series Focus Home Interactive has created is something I would highly recommend checking out. There are 3 parts full of information and insight which tackle the following:
NB: You will need to enable the subtitles for these videos.
Episode 1: Roots of Innocence
Episode one introduces the main characters, Amicia and Hugo, showcasing them as the core of the narrative. It reinforces how they will need to learn to survive in the unforgiving world around them. The focus on children and how they view/ interact with the world is both refreshing and challenging.
Episode 2: Dark Ages
Episode two is dedicated to the world we’ll be experiencing. Taking inspiration from paintings and historical reference, you will see a range of mood and feeling, colour and shade.
Epsiode 3: Children of the Plague
Get ready to cringe as the rats take over. This episode highlights how crucial they are to the tension and atmosphere of the game. The nightmarish hive mind-esque movement and interaction are phenomenal.
There is also a 16 minute gameplay trailer to sink your teeth into when you’re done with the web-series:
Highlights for me so far are many. The dark backdrop and occultish atmosphere intrigue me. The crafting and survival based decision making excite me. I’m absolutely loving how this game looks and feels and can’t wait until launch. We’ll find out more when A Plague Tale: Innocence eventually releases on May 14th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
