Reggie Fils-Aime, President and COO at Nintendo of America, will retire in the very near future. Reggie will depart from the gaming industry from 15 April this year.
The fan favourite, charming, and ever-so lovable Reggie has been a part of Nintendo for a notable 15 years. He has spent 13 years building his loving reputation with audiences and partners alike as the President and COO. Undoubtedly, the man will forever be a historical icon within the gaming industry, bringing both joy and success to Nintendo and its fans.

On the brighter side, a well respected replacement is soon to be instated. Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Doug Bowser will take over Reggie’s supreme reign. Now, we all are thinking the same thing. How could Bowser himself be taking over Nintendo of America? What evil scheme has he implemented to get Reggie Fils-Aimé to retire? I reassure you, this is not the real Bowser. Doug Bowser is a distinguished member of the company and is apparently born for the position with a last name like that.

Memes aside, it is incredibly sad news to hear of Reggie’s departure. He will forever remain a powerful and nostalgic memory of the face of modern-day Nintendo. With his crazy antics and ambitious goals for the company, the icon brought an element of freshness and humanity back into the gaming industry.
With the sadness that comes with the news, we can’t disregard Reggie’s hard work and desire to rest. On behalf of the Checkpoint and JOY 94.9 team, and I’m sure many gamers out there, we wish you the very best, Reggie. Best wishes from everyone in the gaming community.
